Miami Warcraft Heat
Battle Summary at the ACON4 WC3 Tournament in Florida Regional @ E2 Café
Great turnout at the ACON4 WC3 Florida Regional at E2 Café in Miami, Florida; players participated from Florida to as far as S. Carolina. At the end of first two rounds, only 8 players stand; the favorites to win are: Matthew Anderson (Wizard) and Cheyne Seleski (Newbiee). Wizard is about to make a tough decision -- in order to pass the 3rd round he must face his own brother (Steven Anderson) and eliminate him from the competition; and as to Newbiee, he must do the same against his good friend (Neil Murphy). Wizard wins over his brother 2-1, but Newbiee has a tough time beating his friend, but at the end he passes to the next round winning over Murphy 2-1.

Only 4 players are left in the semifinals: Wizard, Newbiee, David Kennedy and Hugh Lomas. Wizard and Newbiee advance to the finals without a sweat, both wining over their opponents 2-0. Now, Kennedy and Lomas will battle for the 3rd place; and Kennedy comes out victorious over Lomas; not bad for a 3rd place, he gets an ATI Radeon 9600 Video Card. Now is the moment of truth, Wizard and Newbiee will face off for the 1st Place. It was a really tough competition, but at the end Wizard is victorious against Newbiee 2-1. Wizard gets an ATI Radeon 9800XT Video Card and Newbiee will walk out with an ABIT IC7-MAX3 Motherboard and a set of Kingston HyperX RAM.
Wizard and Newbiee will battle the next day at the National level in various online games against all the top 2 winners from all the other Regional Tournaments. Newbiee falls short to continue in this tough competition but Wizard advances all the way to the finals.

At the end Wizard is defeated twice (2-1) in the finals by Jeff Zhang (Aether) who came back from the bottom bracket of double elimination. Aether wins $2000 and Wizard will travel to China and represent North America facing many other countries at the ACON4 Global Tournament. Good luck to Aether in China, this June 2004.
