Transmeta
Transmeta's Crusoe chip was well represented at CES with demonstrations of the Crusoe running on Sony micro-notebooks and various WebPads. These Crusoe chips enable impressive battery life while maintaining standard x86 compatibility and functionality. With Transmeta's recent alliance with AMD, Intel may be the one voted off the island.

Microsoft basically showed us that they can control every part of your lives, from the alarm clock that wakes you, to the appliances that feed you, and the car that drives you. Microsoft Home now means much more than their Microsoft Encarta and Works.

Casio
Casio's approach to this market is simply to shrink the computer. Casio has two new products that run full Windows ME in a very small package. To give you an idea of how compact these devices are, the screens are 6.3 inches diagonally, but have a resolution of 800x600.
