Sharedware Technology

Agent 007

A bit later in the day I stopped by the booth of a small British company called Shared Ware to chat with Roger Moore (no not the one that played James Bond heh) and Dawn Debruyn. They were showing off what I thought was possibly the most innovative product of the show - Sharedware Savage. This product enables two people to share the same computer for anything. All you need is their special board, and an extra monitor, speakers, mouse, and keyboard for the second user.

Two workstations off of one computer

Two people can work simultaneously using the same office applications, share an internet connection for web browsing, share use of scanners, printers and other peripherals, and of course deathmatch using the same computer! Bear in mind that this product will probably not standup against a very hardware intensive game like Quake 3 or Unreal. But if you have a somewhat beefy CPU with a lot of RAM, I can see two people playing slightly older 3D games like Quake 2 at a reasonable clip. Certainly RTSs and turn based games should work well with this setup.
