EEEk?

The boys at BioWare have Neverwinter Nights expansions to show off and one sexy-looking Star Wars game. Having first glimpsed it at E3 2001, the memory still manages to blow me away. We’re really looking forward to seeing how much progress BioWare has made and how the game looks just a few months away from release!

While we’re on the subject, LucasArts has some other big projects slated for the PC. Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels and Secret Weapons over Normandy are going to bring back some fond memories for gamers.

Back on the Star Wars front, Raven Software is developing the third Jedi Knight game. Key features include being able to make your own character and a strong focus on lightsaber combat – which turned out better than anyone could have hoped with JK2. Also Star Wars-related, Star Wars: Galaxies may make the show now that it’s been delayed until later in the year. Delaying the game until it’s ready is a move we commend, but next time we hope they don’t start hyping it up until it is ready.

Falcon 4 was the last good modern air war sim, but that may change with the release of Lock On: Modern Air Combat by Ubi Soft. Featuring crème-de-la-crème graphics and sound (download the videos from the site if you don’t believe us), the developers also promise hardcore realism options and deep gameplay.

Naval combat is going to get a nice working over courtesy of the Russkies at Akella. They’re responsible for the original Sea Dogs and are working on Pirates of the Caribbean (formerly Sea Dogs 2). Bethesda Softworks has been kind enough to publish this title, just as they’ve been kind enough to announce a new expansion for Morrowind which should also be shown at E3.

Speaking of RPG expansions, Mythic Entertainment is planning yet another for Dark Age of Camelot. Just what it is and what we can expect from it, we’ll have to see at E3. Last but not least on the RPG front, Black Isle and Reflexive will be bringing us Lionheart. Based on an alternate, darker reality, this medieval fantasy features the SPECIAL system so integral to Fallout titles.

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe was my second PC flight sim. The first was Their Finest Hour: The Battle of Britain – also by Lawrence Holland and LucasArts.
