JCal: This author impressed me a lot with the first part of his feature which was written for the first preliminary round of this contest. He continues to impress with this section part as he goes into more detail on how DirectX10 improves and differs from DirecX9 for both game developers and gamers. Once again he delivers something that can be read and enjoyed by both hardcore PC hardware and gamer fans along with anyone interested in the evolution in graphics.

JCal: It's always tricky to do a review of a desktop or notebook PC because as soon as you review it a new product with more powerful hardware is likely waiting in the wings. This author decided to review a HP notebook which certainly is on the upper end of the hardware specs for such a notebook. This author, however, has a writing style that just didn't excite me at all. It's your basis notebook PC review and quite frankly we are looking for someone that can "bring it". The subject matter combine with the pedestrian writing style added up to something that I will quickly forget reading about if this was an article on this web site.

JCal: The title of this article signals something that's highly ambitious. However, the author falls short of his rather lofty expectations with this introduction how to use the mod tools and server features for Neverwinter Nights 2. As he admits in his article, he can only go into so much detail on how to accomplish the task that the title promises to deliver. If you can't deliver on your own promises but instead say, "This is as far as I can go; go somewhere eles for the rest of it," then maybe you need to scale back your article to something that you can deliver completely.
Jakub: I like the concept, but where’s the beef? I bite in and find it surprisingly unfulfilling. This qualifies as more of an introductory guide than creating your own persistent world. I’d mind less if this was part one of a series. It would be even better if you could show a complex mod and break it down into simpler parts, skipping the introductory stuff.

JCal: This F.E.A.R. review is simply a disaster. The author didn't even seem to care about what he was writing about here and just threw something together in order to have something for the second round. A review of a game that's almost two years old combine with poor rambling writing and horrible page layout add up to something that I gave up on reading very quickly.
Jakub: I think John’s criticisms are overboard but I’d have to say that this is one the few articles that doesn’t live up to the excellent standards set by other authors. Take aside the formatting and moderate grammar issues, and the only real criticism I have is the lack of criticism seen. A note to writers attempting further reviews: don’t write about your favorite game. We need to see critical commentary.
