Links 2001

Photo Realistic

The Links series has always wowed players with high quality graphics, but Links 2001 will amaze like never before. The developers boast that it's the "most comprehensive upgrade to Links ever," and from what we saw, it's hard to argue that point. With true photorealistic backgrounds tuned for 1280 x 1024 resolution, and a graphics engine that can better simulate vertical edges (cliffs, arches, bunker overhangs, etc), Links 2001 promises the best visuals ever seen in a computer golf game. The golfer animations have been tweaked as well - we noticed pre swing fidgeting, aiming, and more in the on screen golfers.

Also look for tuned ball physics, more courses, and real pro golfers included in Links 2001. Those who love tweaking and customizing will be happy to know that a course editor will finally be included in Links 2001. Some of the screenshots show the tool, which is allegedly the same one used by the actual developers to create the courses that are in the game. Worried that it will be too hard for you to figure out? Detailed tutorials on how to use the course architect will come with the game.

Be the online Tiger Woods

The last bit of exciting news about Links is that it will feature improved online play, promoted by a $100,000 online golf tournament known as the Virtual Golf Association! Yes, you no longer have to be a twitchy Quake player or a sly Starcraft player to make money playing games. You can make big bucks playing Links online!
