Baseball 2001

Take me out to the ballgame

One of two games shown at Gamestock that will actually be out in the next month or so, Baseball 2001 should be out first ahead of everything, just in time for Opening Day. By adding the vaunted Baseball Mogul technology to the game, Microsoft looks to fully take on EA's Triple Play series as THE baseball simulator to beat. Now players will be in charge of player salaries, drafting, scouting, ticket prices, and more, if they so wish. No word on whether or not you'll have to deal with your ace relief pitcher shooting off his mouth, but hey, games can't simulate EVERYTHING, can they?

Baseball 2001 is of course endorsed by Major League Baseball, so you'll be getting real teams, real players, real stadiums, etc. The new stadiums in Houston, Milwaukee, San Francisco, and Detroit will be in the game.

The game's definitely got some eye popping visuals - stay tuned for a more detailed hands on preview here at FS.

MS Baseball 2001 is endorsed by Nomar Garciaparra, the best American League shortstop (yeah, Mariners and Yankees fans, you heard me) today.
