FiringSquad: What was your inspiration for Counter-Strike? Did you have previous mod experience before starting on CS?

I was inspired to make CS shortly after working on a mod called Action Quake2. After working on AQ2, I was really eager to work on a military style mod (similar to my very first mod, Navy SEALS Quake1) and was about to do a Navy SEALS 2, but found out someone already did it.. so I decided to do Counter-Strike.. Having worked on 2 mods in the past, really allowed me to work efficiently on CS.

FiringSquad: How has your life changed since Counter-Strike has become the most popular online FPS game?

I'm not thinking any differently than I was 2 years ago.. and I sure don't act any differently. I reckon many people would find that hard to believe but I'm still doing the mods for the same reason I started doing them. Quite simply it's because I enjoy seeing my game come to life and seeing my work on the internet. ohh.. one thing that has changed is the amount of email I get.. IT'S ANNOYING GETTING TECH SUPPORT QUESTIONS!!! That stuff is about as enjoyable as wearing fibre glass underwear. It's even more disturbing than the, "You're a freaking idiot!! Listen to my advice if you want to improve your game!!" type of email.

FiringSquad: How much Counter-Strike do you play each week? What's your favorite map and favorite weapon?

I try to play about 10 hours a week... My favourite map would have to be de_dust.. It's tough picking favourites but when that map comes on, my blood pressure goes up and that's a good thing for me.. I guess.

/me passes out
/me wakes up

My favourite weapon would have to be the Sig SG-552 Commando.. I couldn't hit a pregnant yak with it but it looks so sweet in my eyes.. (not literally, IN my eyes..)

Good thing he has a Colt

FiringSquad: How does your team research the weapons in Counter-Strike? Have you or any team members fired any of the weapons in real life?

I tried using Cliffe's house as a mock firing range but his parents seemed a bit upset when I brought up the idea... Actually, we get most of the information on the guns from the internet and from gun magazines. Oh, and one time I had the chance to actually fire a bunch of handguns, revolvers and shotguns (sorry no automatic weapons since that's illegal :( ). I did get to see a buttload of automatic weapons being fired (P90, MP5, AK-47, M-16, etc..). It's such an awesome feeling firing a gun. The recoil is something to behold (especially on a .44 magnum!!!!).

FiringSquad: How much CS related e-mail do you get each day? What's the most memorable message someone has sent you?

I get about 100+ emails a day.. One of the more memorable ones was from someone claiming to be Ru Paul (the crossdresser).
