The Quake 3 Arena Tour Bus

The Venga Bus is coming...

Well, maybe nothing quite so tacky, but you get the gist of it. In id's first public road show, a giant black bus with a Q3A-themed "skin" is now traveling the last leg if it's journey from Dallas to the hallowed halls of Activision HQ in Los Angeles, California. Quoted from a real Southern California resident ( who shall remain nameless), "the bus had to make it's way through such unfortunate states as New Mexico, Arizona, and Oregon before striking gold." Very clever of himself, I'm sure. Regardless of nationalism (stateism?), just as the Presidential Primaries, Cali is the last leg of the trip, so you could say we were totally missing out as such unfortunate states as New Mexico, Arizona, and Oregon had the grand opportunity to see the latest build of Quake 3 Arena.

The Quake 3 Bus Tour Route

Several weeks ago (and well-into the road tour), FiringSquad received a e-mail from Katherine Anna Kang, Director of Business Relations at id. The bus was going to be in Emeryville (about 5 minutes away from our Berkeley office) on Saturday, October 2, and we were invited to come and hang with the crew, play a few private matches, and bring them dinner (cause they couldn't leave the bus). Wow, that added up to a pretty good deal, and since we had all saved up a ton of extra 29 cent hamburgers from the previous Wednesday, we decided to make a day of it.

We packed up a box full of Gamers.com t-shirts, mousepads, and stickers, and headed out to the van. Kenn of course, being an arrogant bastard decided to pack up his 50 lb. keyboard, as well has his mouse and mousepad, "just in case."

We arrive at the bus Next!
