Arriving at the Bus

CompUSA, here we come

In many regards, the Quake 3 Arena bus may be the only wholly redeeming value of the CompUSA chain of stores (in case you're wondering, we had a slightly irritating experience with them over a G3 Macintosh). We arrived at 3PM, pretty late in the day, but we still found a sizable line of diehard Quakers waiting to get their deathmatch fix.

Wemmick and the rest of the Gamers crew hung around and met up with Victor "Makaveli" Cuadra, who was able to spin some serious story to get out of his day job and meet us at the bus. Also meeting us there was the one and only Anna Kang, who flies in from id on weekends to meet the bus at its designated locations.

Stickers for everyone!

Let the graffiti begin! A few months ago, we thought it would be a cool idea to make some gamers.com stickers to give out to our affiliates, close friends, and fans. So we found a place that could make them on the cheap. What happened next was the GX offices inundated with several thousand of these things. Having more than we could deal with, they inevitably made their way onto every monitor, keyboard, or flat dry surface in the building. We needed to get rid of these as quickly as possible. Among the first to be anointed was Wayne "soso" Chiang, proudly wore the Gamers logo without complaint or knowledge of the fact. The next victim was of course the Q3A bus itself. Some perpetrator, who shall again remain unknown, decided that the black bus would be the perfect backdrop for a covert operation. We have him on camera, caught in the act. A mask has been applied to his face to protect his identity.

The firstGX member to experience the inside of the bus was the venerable Gamers.com Editor in Chief, Joel "Wemmick" Downs. We all waited eagerly as he stepped in with seven other players, and listened to the pre-game briefing given by Darren. 15 minutes later, he emerged, visibly shaken. "I couldn't get a weapon!" Next up was Hank, who with a solid 30 minutes of FPS experience under his belt, came up second.
