Is GX gonna win anything?

Thankfully, Makaveli had played earlier and won his round easily, giving us one win under our belt. I guess Kenn felt it was time to represent, cause he pimped his keyboard and mouse, and stepped up to the bus….only to have is ass put on hold. No external equipment allowed. I swear, his eyes fell about a mile. Well, looking for whatever unfair edge he could muster, Kenn snuck his mousepad aboard. I swear, if he lost, we'd make sure he'd never forget it.

Unfortunately, he emerged triumphant. Doh. He did tell me that he was somewhat familiar with level from watching the rolling demonstration at GDC several hours on end though (cheater). His cries of "6 out of 7 of the people in my round played at least once before!" fell on deaf ears.

Over the course of the day, a few more GX folks got their turn in the bus, and then it was time to close up shop. Fortunately for us, the Quaking was far from over. Here's the cheater with the rest of the scoop.

Uh…thanks. At least I was man enough to step into the FFA. Mr. Big Shot here just stood outside and chatted with people all day.

While the bus was closing shop, the GX "B" Squad assembled to take on the id software staff. "B" consisted of Joel, Hank, Wayne, and Brandon. The visiting team, id software was Anna, David, Matt, and Darren. After an intense battle, with the lead changing back and forth over the last few seconds, GX was able to pull ahead by 5 frags to win 50 to 45. Whew! Each team then swapped out players, and GX traded out Hank for Terence (Nemisis, TF extraordinaire), and Brandon for Justin (Fusty, don't ask me why). I wasn't able to grab a screenshot of the second game, but it was damned close as well, with GX barely holding their ground. With a sigh of relief, we knew that our hamburgers were safe!
