The trip to 3dfx

What, no limo?

Earlier this week, 3dfx flew out dozens of hardware webmasters for a briefing on something "new" they wanted to show us. Firingsquad was not among those flown in for the conference. You see, the summit was held at 3dfx's San Jose offices, located a mere 50 miles from our Berkeley offices. A flight was not only unjustified, it wasn't even possible. So all we could do was put our sorry butts in a car and drive ourselves down.

Oh well, no big deal. At least we saved ourselves jetlag and got to sleep in our own beds that night. After one hour of torturous driving and the embarrassing experience of walking into the wrong 3dfx office, we finally made it to the right place, fashionably late of course!

Faces to Names

After 3dfx's PR hot tamale Brian Burke led us to the waiting area, we met up with all the other webmasters who had the same appointment time. It was great to finally meet up with some of the people we only "knew" through ICQ or email or just as bylines on articles. Noticeably absent was our pal, Billy "I'm too sexy for your daughter" Wilson from Voodoo Extreme. Apparently a snafu in the communications channel resulted in him never getting his travel itinerary so he never made it out to California. Nevertheless, the show had to go on nd we filed into 3dfx's high tech conference room for the briefing.

    What of 3dfx? Next!
