Wrap-Up
Pay-to-play?
What we have with Asheron's Call is a good-looking, addictive, well-designed, oft-improved gaming experience. The combination of swanky graphics and interaction with (presumably) live people on the other end makes for immersive gameplay and a fun experience. Whether this experience will be worth paying a monthly fee for (prices have not yet been announced) is probably up to you. If 3D RPG's are your thang, then it may well be worth the money. It's always more fun to play a game multiplayer than going it alone, though, so keep your eyes on FiringSquad for the final word in the latest massively multiplayer games. This reviewer, for one, hopes this sort of thing will be a continuing trend.
