"I'm gonna have me some fun"

Without a doubt, Aliens and Predator are two of the all time best science fiction movies. I've never met anyone who didn't at least like these action packed films. (That is not unless they were female or would otherwise prefer to watch boring bloodless movies like Stepmom.) It only makes sense to put the two together for a movie. In fact, a series of novels have already been written to cover the topic, but we've all been waiting a decade for Hollywood to make AvP into a movie. Well, there are no plans for a new motion picture yet (they'd rather churn out bombs like Godzilla), but Fox Interactive will soon release a first person shooter based on the Aliens vs. Predator world, and there are indications it could be a sleeper hit.

A first person shooter? Wasn't this done before? Well, there was that ill-fated Atari Jaguar version, but we really don't want to say anything about that. As for Fox's new take on the subject, we're talking a brand new, proprietary 3D accelerated engine, complete with location-based damage, particle systems, and of course a "realistic physics model." The game will also feature destructible lights which promise not to be pre-rendered lightmaps. However what sets AvP apart from the other first person shooters is that there are three unique character classes: Alien, Predator, and Colonial Space Marine.

So exactly how did three potent killing machines end up in the same place? Well it turns out that ground zero is an abandoned human research facility. There was a good deal of weapons research going on, both with enhancing the Aliens to become even more fearsome killing machines and with studying the technology of a shipful of captured Predators. The Marine is simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, isolated on the empty base after returning from a solo training mission. His goal is to destroy the doomed base to prevent the spread and escape of the Xenomorphs (Aliens). As the Predator, you must try to rescue your shipmates from imprisonment and escape the infested base with your life. Along the way you gather up the parts of your ship and your stolen weaponry. If you play as the Aliens, the primary objective is to find and implement the hidden research on the base that will turn your species into Xenoborgs - the ultimate killing machines.

How do the 3 classes differ? Next!
