Ballistics Report
Pros
Gameplay
Civilization IV brings a lot of new ideas and concepts to the table, makes them work, improves the Civilization franchise – and does this without losing its identity. A monumental achievement and one that the development team should be inordinately proud of.
Graphics
Despite a few graphical glitches, notably in combat, the 3D engine works very well, while the art style is quite attractive.
Multiplayer
It’s obvious from the very start that Civilization IV was built from the ground up with multiplayer in mind.
Cons
Performance
The single biggest con is rapidly deteriorating game performance as the centuries pass.
Some rough edges
There are a few niggling bugs and balance issues, especially the ease of a space race victory – particularly in a higher-difficulty singleplayer campaign where it’s too easy to miss notifications that someone is building a spaceship.
