Cheaters Never Prosper

Westwood feels strongly about cheaters and knows that cheaters just ruin the game. As a result, they have taken several measures to discourage cheating in any way possible. First off, they will not hold any tournament with any large prizes to the winner. In their eyes, they would just be awarding the best cheater. Instead, they will be awarding the most loyal fans. The example that was given was that if you had won 5 out of 5 games while I had lost 100 out of 100 games, I would have a higher chance of winning a prize since I had played more games. Westwood says that this promotes more fun and less of an incentive to cheat since nothing is at stake. They also said that they would be much more strict on disconnectors. A picture that represents the ratio of disconnects to total games will be displayed next to the player's name. A player with a high disconnecting rate will be easily detected in the chat room, and will end up being reset immediately if his ratio is too high.

Stiff competition

Unfortunately, the release of C&C2 will be among many Real Time Strategies in the market. Their main competitors being Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, the Age of Kings and to a lesser extent, Starcraft and Brood War. Sunnydog gave me an overview on what she believed to be C&C 2's greatest advantage over its competitors.
