Bad Weed

Mari ju wana is bad, m'kay?

The weed mentioned above is a new concept for the C&C series. Essentially, there is this plant-like thing in the ground that grows weeds, which extends from the plant and grows outwards over flat terrain. This weed will tear up units of any types as well as buildings very quickly when it comes in contact with them. It essentially creates a time bomb on the side of the frontal fight, and you have to deal with it or else it will be dealing with you.

At first, I had no idea what the weed was since it looked like some weird thorns on the ground. It tore up my Construction Yard, several power plants and vehicles before I figured out what it was doing to my buildings and units.

Weed-B-Gone

There are basically 2 ways of dealing with the weed: get rid of the weed that has grown on the ground and kill it at the source (which doesn't get rid of the existing weed on the ground). The first solution is creating Weed Eaters. These units are like harvesters except that instead of helping you build up, they keep you from dying. They eat up weed like candy and dump it off at their facility until it's all cleaned up. It's a rather slow process. So, you can't exactly make these Weed Eaters at the last second at the last minute.

The other solution is to kill the plant that produces the weed. You need a really ranged unit to shoot at it since it's surrounded by the weed that it produces which slaughters anything that steps on it except the Weed Eaters. On top of this, the plant fights back and was actually pretty buffed, killing 10 of my infantry and 2 of my bikes pretty easily. The rocket-launcher/SSM-like unit takes care of it nicely as the plant can't fight back nor will the unit be under the weed's affect if the unit is kept away from the thorns.

Not against my army, thanks

Multiplayer fanatics probably wouldn't want to see this concept in multiplayer games as the weed will probably get in the way of launching as good of an offense as one would like. I'm assuming that the creative strategist will attempt to mine as much of the weed to create a natural shield against ground troops or attempt to attack the opponent's Weed Eater facility to cause the Weed to tear up the enemy base.
