Conclusions
Still beta, but already a winner
Despite a couple of minor flaws, Counter-Strike is intensely enjoyable and utterly addictive. After the first couple of times I played it, I thought of CS as everything that Rogue Spear multiplayer should have been. After months of saying "I'll play a game like that when someone makes it with the Quake 3 engine" I finally caved in and played the one made for the Half Life engine. I'm not sorry either, although it's sucked away more of my free time in the last two weeks than I'm willing to admit.

The development team is constantly tweaking and improving the game - after a year of development, it will soon reach 1.0 status and become an officially sanctioned upgrade to Half Life. And why not? It's probably the most significant mod to be developed for any game since CTF for Quake 1.
