Gone Gold!

Yes, Counter-Strike is finally out of beta! For those of you who are uninitiated, Counter-Strike is a popular Half-Life Terrorist/Counter-Terrorist mod that has swept through the online gaming community over the past year. If you want to find out more about the game, check out our Counter-Strike Feature Calbear wrote a few months ago.

Even though Counter-Strike is coming out of beta, it doesn't mean you'll have to start paying for it. You'll always be able to download the mod free of charge. You will, however, now be able to buy Half-Life: Counter-Strike in stores in case you don't want to spend a week downloading the mod over modem.

As you can see in the list of changes, this new version of Counter-Strike features three new weapons, redone player models, and Valve's model blending technology. As always, several maps have also been tweaked for this latest release.

Models

The new models offer a new sense of realism. The level of detail is spectacular. We'll let the screenshots do the talking. Although, we have to warn you that the screenshots can't fully demonstrate the fluid model animations.

Weapons

As far as we can tell, no weapons have been removed, but there are now three new weapons, the FN Five-Seven handgun, the H&K UMP .45, and the Sig SG-550 sniper rifle. Let's take a look at these new weapons!
