H&K UMP45
Heckler & Koch UMP45
The H&K UMP45 makes its debut in Counter-Strike 1.0. In the
words of H&K:
The UMP is a cost-effective, state-of-the-art submachine gun that offers users the advantages of light weight, low initial purchase and maintenance costs, uncompromising reliability, and precision accuracy with low felt recoil.
The UMP45 provides the user with a magazine capacity of 25 rounds* with an accurate range of 100 yards or more, well beyond that of any issue handgun or shotgun. Due to its small size (less than 18 inches with the buttstock folded) and 41/2 pound unloaded weight, the UMP is the perfect choice for use in or around vehicles. Its size and low weight also make it the ideal weapon for smaller stature officers who have difficulty handling the size, weight, and excessive felt recoil of a full size rifle or shotgun.

Our Notes
The $1700 UMP45 is available to both Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. It has a 25-round clip and fires .45 ACP rounds, the same used in the USP. In our tests, the UMP45 (14/8 armored, 29-31 unarmored) had a slightly lower damage per shot ratio than the USP (15/8 armored, 30-34 unarmored), but those variances may be due to errors in our testing. Of course, the UMP45's extremely high rate of fire makes up for the slightly lower damage.

Is the UMP45 better than the $1500 MP5? Let's see, the MP5 holds a 30-round clip and fires weaker, 9mm Parabellum ammo. We encountered a wide range of numbers in our damage tests, but we figured the average to be 11/7 against armored opponents and 27 against unarmored opponents. In terms of accuracy, both guns seem to be about the same, but the UMP's rate of fire is noticeably slower. The UMP also has a longer reload time.
In the end, we still prefer the MP5 over the UMP45. Given equally skilled players, we'd put our money on the MP5.
