The AK-47 is arguably the best bargain weapon in the entire game. It's the least expensive assault rifle, but also the most powerful -and the most inaccurate. Learning to use the AK correctly takes lots of practice and patience. Once you master this gun, it may turn out to be your favorite.
As the bullet-spread screenshot shows, going full auto with the AK isn't going to get you many mid-to-long range kills. In long range confrontations, the AK should be fired in two shot bursts with a pause between bursts roughly equivalent to the burst time itself. At close range you can afford to go full auto (no bursts) as long as you compensate for the recoil by pulling the crosshair down towards your opponent's lower body as you fire.
Sniping with the AK at long range is not difficult as long as you remain crouched (or at least standing still), and you fire in two shot bursts. The sheer distance will provide enough security to justify remaining still for a few moments. However, this may not be a good idea if your target has a real sniper rifle.
It should be noted that most of the time an AK shot to an armored head will get the kill no matter what, but there will be rare occasions where you'll end up with an enemy with one health left.

The SG-552 Commando fits into a very small class of weapons that excels in both close and long range confrontations. It is not so much that the Commando can be effective in both scenarios, but rather it is meant to be effective in both scenarios. With enough practice, you can learn to use the AK effectively at both close and long range. The Commando, however, is good right out of the box.
A group of enemies at close range can be taken out quickly at 11 rounds per second. The gun stays fairly accurate when going full auto, but we still recommend firing in bursts for longer distance fights (4-5 shots for medium range, unzoomed). As always, crouching increases accuracy.
Long-range confrontations are easier to handle with the help of the Commando's secondary fire zoom capabilities. Although the rate of fire is slower in zoomed mode, you should still fire in two or three shot bursts if the target is far away. If you find yourself zoomed in on a medium range target, you can afford to fire a good five to six shots before the rounds begin to consistently miss the target.
