Battlefield 3 PC Review - Single-player Impressions
One of the most highly-anticipated PC games of the year is upon us; Battlefield 3 is now available in North America! EA/DICE have finally delivered a sequel to the core Battlefield franchise, a proper follow-up to BF2. Having played through the game's single-player campaign already, ahead of the multiplayer festivities kicking off around midnight, I figured I'd share my impressions ASAP. Is it really a worthy addition to the core Battlefield series, or just another bullet point on the back of the box? Read on and find out!

Nuclear Dawn PC Review
Nuclear Dawn is a Source-based FPS/RTS hybrid, the first commercial project from Dutch indie developer InterWave Studios, aiming to offer the best of both genres without watering down either one. It follows the convention of similar titles including Savage and Natural Selection, which see a team of first-person combatants taking to the field as a strategic commander watches over them, building structures, researching technology, and so on. Battlefield 3 PC Beta Impressions
The Battlefield 3 open beta is upon us! Available now on all three platforms, it's a chance for you to get a sneak peek at the upcoming military FPS that EA/DICE hopes will dethrone Call of Duty. It's also the public debut of the new Frostbite 2.0 game engine, which requires DirectX 10 and looks more than a treat. 32-player infantry-focused Rush map Operation Metro is being served to thousands of gamers around the world as we speak; soak in some impressions of that map and the game in general, as well as the limited-time run of 64-player Conquest map Caspian Border, in today's article!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC Review
FPS/RPG hybrid Deus Ex is one of the most highly-regarded PC games ever released. In fact, it remains at the top of many a “best games” list to this day, more than a decade after it was released, and is considered by some to be the greatest PC game of all time. It expertly blended shooter action with role-playing elements, offering a free-form play style throughout open environments and featuring multiple solutions to every problem.

Last week saw the release of the highly-anticipated new entry into that storied franchise, subtitled Human Revolution. This is the first game developed by Eidos Montreal, and it's looking to fill some really big shoes... Find out whether or not DXHR lives up to the hype in today's review!

Firing Points - EA vs. Valve, Battlefield 3 Losing Steam
It's no longer a rumor: Battlefield 3 won't be available on Steam when it's released this October. EA has been kind enough to definitively answer that, at least, however the reasoning behind it is still not quite clear. They claim that Valve's "restrictive terms of service" are to blame, but is it really that cut and dry? Today's Firing Points explores the possible motives EA may have for doing something like this in the wake of launching their own digital download service, Origin.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy Review
Borderlands. Fallout 3. Deus Ex. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

What do these games have in common? They're all mish-mashes of two of the most popular genres in PC gaming -- the first-person shooter and the role-playing game. Their respective developers blurred the line between the two to varying degrees, but most people agree that Ion Storm did it best with Deus Ex. What if I told you that you don't have to wait until the end of the August to sink your teeth into a new cyberpunk FPS/RPG?

Duke Nukem Forever PC Review
It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all outta gum!

Duke must have been working through a whole damned carton of Stride or something, as it took him the better part of two decades to make a comeback, following the release of his last game all the way back in 1996. The long, long, long, long-awaited release of Duke Nukem Forever marks the end of the most drawn-out, dramatic, and publicized development process in video game history. That means we can no longer make jokes about the irony of the title or the likelihood of it coming out before the end of the century, the millennium, the world, etc. (Though we still have Half-Life [2: Episode] 3!)

The game itself has met with a very mixed reception among critics and fans alike, with many insisting that it did not come close to living up to its own legacy, or that of its now defunct creator, developer 3D Realms. Others are so offended that they'd rather gouge their own eyes out with sporks that play it all the way through... A more rational stance to take is to recognize that it never could have lived up to the hype and simply enjoy it for what it is. Find out whether or not you should expect "what it is" to be worth the price of admission in today's review!

Portal 2 PC Review
When Portal was released as a part of The Orange Box back in 2007, not even Valve knew it would be the phenomenon it turned out to be. They even had the gall to try to create a follow-up without portals! Lucky for us, they listened to playtesters and decided to bring back the old blue and orange wonders. That doesn't mean they left it at that, though, no sirree. Portal 2 introduces a whole bunch of new stuff, including additional voiced characters and a separate cooperative campaign.
