Gun Types
Descent 3 includes tons of weapons that you can use to kill your opponents. There are over twenty, in fact - 10 types of "guns," and 10 types of rockets. You can also use special items like proximity mines and something called the "gunboy," which is basically a floating ball that shoots at enemies. Each weapon has a unique property. The 10 guns are selected with the first five number keys, with two weapons bound to each key (pressing the same key twice toggles between the two weapons bound to it). The missiles are set up the same way, with the 10 dispersed among the 6-0 keys. The weapons "priority" (the thing that determines whether a newly picked up weapon will override your current one) is completely configurable from the menus.

Guns
Your basic guns are dual lasers, with a blue beam. You can get a quad laser pickup that will increase the number of beams of basic lasers up to 4. Next up on the priority list is one of my favorites, the Vauss cannon, which is a hard hitting Gatling gun with limited rounds. The Vauss is one of the few hitscan weapons in Descent 3. Another cool weapon is the microwave beam, which doesn't do much damage, but jolts robots and enemies out of control when you hit them. Getting hit by microwaves in multiplayer jolts your POV. The Plasma cannon is probably one of the more powerful guns, as it shoots rapid fire green plasma bits that hit for a good deal of damage. Next up, the Fusion cannon - this gun can charge up if you hold down the fire button but don't charge for too long or you'll damage yourself! Hitting an enemy with a charged up fusion cannon can deal devastating damage.

More guns
Super lasers are exactly how they sound - lasers that hit for bigger damage than your normal blue ones (super lasers are yellow).
They can also be shot 4 at a time if you get the quad laser power up. The Mass Driver is another hitscan weapon, not unlike the rail gun in Quake 2.
Holding it down zooms in the viewer for sniping, but be aware that the mass driver has a relatively slow reload. Next is another favorite of mine, the
napalm gun. This is basically a dual flame thrower attachment for your ship - short range but it will do a good deal of damage and set the enemy (or you) on fire for continuous damage until the fire dissipates or your guide bot puts you out. The EMD gun is one of the more popular guns in multiplayer so far. It's more or less like plasma, but with a little twist: it hits for less damage but projectiles will curve slightly to hit your enemy and correct your aim! Finally, the Omega gun - this is sort of like dual Quake 1 lightning guns. It shoots out a pair of high energy, high damage tentacles that will latch on to any enemy in front of you and within a short enough range!
