It’s not enough to just have a decent idea, like Devastation’s take on respawning. A good game needs at least some combination of competent AI, level design, atmosphere, animation, technical stability, or gameplay, all of which are conspicuously lacking here. I like first person shooters as much as the next guy, but these sorts of half-baked efforts are enough to sour anyone on the genre. Fortunately, there are competent shooters like Black Hawk Down, Raven Shield, and Unreal Tournament 2003 to be played, as well as the occasional gems like Vietcong and Battlefield 1942. Because after a game like Devastation, you'll need something to clear your first person shooter palette.
