Ballistics Report

Pros

Graphics
As good as they look in screenshots or movies, nothing prepares you for how intense it is to play the game. Per-pixel lighting is the wave of the future.

Sound
Not only are the effects solid if not as excellent as Call of Duty, they're used extremely well to provide a tense atmosphere often long after the "surprise! attack!" factor gets old.

Atmosphere
There's no doubt about it, the game has one of the most intense feelings ever. If you don't jump from your seat at least once, you're not human. If you don't need a pause in the first few hours, you've got more nerves than this jaded gamer.

Monster design
They're creepy, unique, creative and interesting. And that doesn't even begin to describe the bosses.

Cons

Gameplay
It simply needs more variety. If id had interspersed the constant attempts at shocking the player with actual sequences of prolonged action, made subtle use of longer quiet pauses and simply made the game shorter, it'd be a lot better.

Multiplayer
Per-pixel hit detection is great. Four guys abusing the loud sound and shadows in order to camp each other is not.

Surprise! Attack!
Gets old quick. Surprise! I'm not scared any more. In fact, I'm annoyed.

Where's co-op?
Look, if Vicarious Visions can add it in for Xbox while porting the game, the PC version better have it. No excuses.
