Feet-On
A Living City
Gamers may remember how we oohed and aahed at the living city of Chicago in
Midtown Madness. The city was recreated digitally with miles of road, real landmarks, working traffic lights, and living traffic/pedestrians that move about according to the laws of the road. Many also complained that Chicago was the only city in the game. Driver's setting uses all the same realistic features - working traffic lights, pedestrians, and cops on patrol, but applies them to more than just one city. As Tanner, you'll be doing missions in not just one urban setting, but FOUR! Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Miami will all be in the game and you'll be rip roaring through the streets in a whopping 44 misisons.

It's real, dammit
Each of the four cities will have over 30 miles worth of roads and 150,000 buildings, along with their respective landmarks. Expect to navigate through your missions using the Golden Gate Bridge, the Empire State Building, and South Beach to guide you. Each city went through a ton of pre-production filming, so expect the digital cities to be modeled "block by block down to the back alley of their true life counterparts." I've lived in LA and near SF for many years so you can bet we'll be checking them on that! With the dynamic of the living city and cops on patrol, this has the potential to give Driver a lot of replay value - doing the same mission twice should never be the same!
