Sound/Multiplayer
Sound
The sound effects and music in Dominion Wars also feel like they've been taken directly from the TV series. The background music sounds like the DS9 theme song, although it is subtle and looping. Battle music kicks it up a notch, but stays true to the classically arranged pieces Trekkies know and love.
The sound effects are also taken directly from the TV series. Phaser fire, photon blasts, and even the explosions sound the same. The sound effects for new weapons also keep to the Star Trek theme. You'll also hear a lot of familiar voices as a lot of show regulars appear in the game. Simon & Schuster are still working on the details with a few actors, so hope they get it all squared away by the time the game ships.

Multiplayer
Multiplayer Dominion Wars will support up to eight players. It may not seem like much, but eight players with six ships is 48 ships, not including NPC ships. Game types range from free for all to team-based games. King of the Hill throws players into space with a battle station in the middle of the map. Whoever can board the station and gain control of it can use it to ward off attackers, hence the King of the Hill name. Defend the Starbase gives each team a starbase, with the goal of destroying the other team's base.
Players will be allowed to choose any ship in multiplayer, from the Breen to the Romulans and even the Ferengi. You wouldn't think that the Ferengi Marauder is a formidable ship, but according to StarTrek.com, "many come equipped with powerful plasma energy weapons capable of destroying even a Galaxy-class starship."

Wrapping it up
There's still a lot for Gizmo Games to put into Dominion Wars, including the storyline between missions, voices, portraits, and a stable multiplayer system. We'll have more on Dominion Wars as it progresses. For now take a look at the screenshots we've grabbed from our build.
