World In Conflict: (this week)
The Cold War never ended in this action-RTS game from developer Massive Development and publisher Sierra Games which has already generated a ton of great reviews. The Soviet Union decided to invade the US in this alternate history and you have to defend America from this Soviet attack. This game puts the emphasis on the "action" part of action-RTS; no resource building; just get your troops in the battlefield and blow up the enemy. The game's multiplayer will have support to let server operators be a director and "film" battles complete with commentary and telestrator abilities and its use of DirectX10 graphics makes this game one of the best looking strategy games in 2007
Stranglehold:
It's already out for the Xbox 360 but Midway's third person action game has got us all excited to play it on the PC with the higher resolutions that platform can bring. Movie director John Woo helps Midway create a virtual sequel to his 1990's Hong Kong action picture Hard Boiled as Inspector Tequilia fires up his akimbo guns to take out the bad guys in bloody but acrobatic fashion. Using Unreal Engine 3 and a ton of interactive enviroments should make fans of games like the Max Payne series very happy
