Far Cry Shots

Developer: Crytek
Publisher: Ubi Soft
Estimated Release: Late 2003

Screens

Ubi Soft was kind enough to pass along some screenshots about their recently announced shooter, Far Cry. Far Cry runs on the CryENGINE, a graphic engine developed in-house by developers at Crytek Studios, who made the dinosaur island tech demos for NVIDIA. You can see some similarities between those X-Isle demos and the screenshots you see here. Of course, the real test of any FPS engine is “feel,” but as far as eye candy goes, Far Cry certainly delivers. Take notice of how well it seems to handle shadows and lighting in indoor scenes, the water in the beach scene, and the terrain and draw distances in the final shot.
