At First Sight…

At the graduation ceremony, you don't feel too social because, well, you're a laid back kind of guy. Your friends Zell and Selphie try to prod you into celebrating, but it's just not your thing. Just when you thought everyone has left you alone to your peace and quiet, Rinoa, a beautiful baywatch-caliber girl, walks up to you and starts hitting on you. She starts off by saying that you're the most handsome man here, and then, she asks you to dance. You stay silent, but she stays persistent. "Let me guess. You only dance with girls you like." She says. She then waves her hands in your face as if to cast a spell and chants, "You're going to like me… You're going to like me…" She pauses and then asks, "Well, did it work?" You feel somewhat bad that she's trying so hard while you haven't said a word to her. So, you admit out loud, "I can't dance."

Being the aggressively social girl that she is, she drags you on the ballroom floor, puts your arms around her and tries to teach you ball-room dance moves. You bump into a neighboring couple in which you look desperately at them to apologize, but before you can utter anything, Rinoa scowls at them as if to say, "He's just learning, okay?." You then stumble a bit and step on her foot. Embarrassed, you try to walk away, but she drags you back. In a few minutes, you and her are dancing like you two were born for each other, but alas, "Cinderella" has to leave at midnight. She splits. You don't get a goodbye. You don't get her number. You don't get a glass shoe. Frustrated, you leave to do your own thing while accepting that it was a one-night thing.

You look out from the balcony trying to comprehend what just happened when Quistis compliments you on your dancing. She then asks why is it that you would dance with a complete stranger, yet you can't stand talking to her. If it wasn't obvious before, now you know that your teacher has a crush on you. You both quickly dismiss the conversation for business. There is an emergency.

Without spoiling much of the storyline, here are some teasers from the first quarter of the first disc. A neighboring country seems to have some dissention with yours. It's suspected that a witch named Edea is behind it. What's your mission? You have to assault and assassinate Edea. So, all you have to do is amphibious assault a fortress and then assassinate an all powerful witch? Yeah, only when you get there, you see this other problem. She's got this new body guard, named Seifer, the same Seifer from your school. And another thing. You meet a girl on your mission named Rinoa, the same Rinoa you fell for on the dance floor. You then learn something about "Cinderella"… She's the leader of a rebel faction against Edea that often acts without considering the repercussions. And now, you, the once know-it-all needs to know what will happen from here!
