The Interface
Press the button
Well, like I said, things go fast. They don't have to go your way - in fact, they usually don't. You have multiple tasks to do, and they all need to be done *now*. This, of course, would make the grognards out there extremely happy, except for one piddly little detail…

The interface is clean. I mean, it shines. With all the things you have to manage, in real time, I don't think it could get any easier than this. Right click, choose a task, and a weapon if necessary, then right click the location or target. Hit Esc to deselect this unit, hook another of your units with a left-click, and repeat.

It's that simple, believe it or not. The game would probably be so hard as to be unplayable any other way. You just couldn't do things fast enough if the interface was clunkier. Often, I find myself just responding by instinct to attacks, not having time to think about what I want to do.

There, dear readers, is the problem. This is a game where you should be able to think. But when things get all nasty and hairy, it's too hard to do any fancy planning. The game becomes a right/left click fest, with the only thinking being matching up the right weapon with the right target. That really isn't a lot of strategy or tactics. When you get 'better', you simply learn the best weapons for the job and you know what to attack first and last. Disappointing, actually.
