Sound
Mars, the bringer of War
Sound in Hidden and Dangerous is refreshing in its absence. Grown tired of bad but omnipresent soundtracks and lame sound effects, the in-game audio of H&D made me happy as a bull in a china shop. There is music present in the menu screens, but once you hop into the action, it cuts out, leaving you to listen for the oft-important sounds of battle.
Obviously, one of the most important sounds in the game is that of gunfire. It's vital to hear as soon as shots are fired, and from where they're fired. This being the case, it's good that the game music is not generally present during battle mode. Normally, all you'll hear is the shouts of enemy soldiers, gunfire, the train that's about to run over your idiot comrades, etc. If things get really slow, and you're just lurking around, some music will strike up, to heighten the tense mood.
