Great Story and Script:
An epic sci-fi saga and realistic dialogue makes it easy to lose yourself in Mass Effect for hours at a time.

Close Combat:
Intense battles make this supposed RPG play more like a tactical shooter in spots, which is a good thing given how so many action-oriented role-players sleepwalk through combat.

Cons

Oooh, Awkward!:
Clumsily designed, extra-large levels and busywork quests make it hard to stay awake through the plot's catastrophic events.

Bland Backdrops:
Boldly going where no man has gone before has never looked so flat and dull.
