Gameplay
Monstrously Dumb Kibble
Enemies and bosses are definitely alien looking, mostly sharing the unique feature of being much larger than you (Aliens drink a lot of milk). Each level is usually well populated with a variety of enemies, using an equal variety of attacks such as energy cannons, grenades, lightning, and psychic attacks.

It would seem these aliens spend too much time practicing with their weapons and not enough in the classroom (some are actually doing the Macarena), as the AI is not what you would call "smart". An enemy getting sniped will just sit there and be sniped, instead of moving after the first hit. Typical enemy tactics include charging you with guns blazing, getting hit by you, then charging you some more. The bosses aren't terribly threatening, most of who are actually quite comical, although still very deadly.

One thing we liked is that the boss characters each have unique personalities; MDK2 doesn't give you the feeling that you're "just killing another guy". For instance, a brainiac-like boss, who fancies his battles with Dr. Hawkins a duel of minds, forever haunts the good doctor. The battle reflects this, as to defeat him you need to use your brain, as opposed to just filling it with lead. Another boss, Shwang, is the most interesting. He appears throughout the game, wearing shades (Because even aliens have an image to keep), and asks you, "Who your daddy?". Even though his aloofness makes you want to kick his alien-butt, just to shut him up, I still couldn't help but like him. It's refreshing to play an action game with enemies possessing actual personalities.

Mommy Destroyed Konnection
Since this is a throwback game to the days of pre-Internet, console-platform-action style, no multiplayer function is included in the game. While this might be seem as a major no-no in this day and age of massively-multiplayer games, in MDK 2 this seems to be a wise design choice, as there would clearly be play balancing issues (who'd want to play as the Doctor?). It is still tempting however to imagine the possibilities given the three unique characters.
