1st Generation Jets
The rest of the best
While MiG Alley might seem to focus on the F-86 versus MiG-15 fight, players can still expect to help the ground troops flying the F-80C and the F-84E. These two planes while not being as world-renowned as the Sabre were still vitally important. Stopping North Korean supplies from making it to the ground war was fundamentally urgent. This is where the use of rockets and bombs came into play. Once the UN began pushing the North Koreans back toward China, the Chinese entered the war and hitting the Chinese with air power took on an even more vital turn. Early on in MIG Alley, expect small squadrons of MiG-15's to be harassing your F-80C and F-84 but not until a few months into the conflict did the MiG's have any real numbers. F-86's did not appear in the Korean War until it was apparent that the F-80C was no match for the MiG-15 and air support was absolutely necessary. Flying ground attack and other support missions with the player will be squadrons of B-29's, B-26's, Meteors, F9 Panthers and A1 Skyraiders.

Ok! I have heard enough about the planes! What about Graphics?
Graphics in MiG Alley look great. I have heard some other writers comment to me that the ground does not look right. It looks spectacular on a Voodoo3. New to many flight simulations is the inclusion of weather effects like mist, rain, or snow. Each of them looks gorgeous. 3D support is through D3D and while the graphics are scalable, getting all the options turned on and all details cranked up might mean upgrading. Getting all the options turned on helps MiG Alley produce stunning visuals! Explosions are not the best ever but since we are still expecting a release date for the US in November, Rowan still has time to tweak this.

Graphics resolutions are ranging all the way up to 1600x1200. This is great for people with Pentium III's and high-end graphics cards. To get really fluid frame rates, a resolution of 1024x768 might be more appropriate. When the new generation of 3D cards comes along, those with strong CPU's should be able to scale the graphics up a bit. In this respect, MiG Alley should have some hard drive staying power.
