Might and Magic

Now this is a game series that helped resurrect a genre. The roleplaying game was almost a memory when Might and Magic VI : The Mandate of Heaven, came out. The only other major RPG title out at the time was Final Fantasy VII - a port from the Playstation.

MM6 was easily the epitome of the singleplayer only computer RPG. It was first and foremost a character development game. Now I don't mean the melodramatic FF7 stuff. What I'm talking about is 9 classes with a huge variety of skills and stastics. There were levels to the skills, levels to the class and you could get promotions. This is fairly standard Might and Magic, but to a world that called Diablo a "real" roleplaying game, MM6 was light years ahead in terms of complexity.

Might and Magic VII : For Blood and Honor

So how is Might and Magic VII, and what can we expect from it? Well, in many ways it's similar to MMVI, in that the engine and underlying technology, as well as gameplay features are nearly identical. The big question will be whether or not its story can carry it past its aging visuals!
