Good and Evil

You must choose, but choose wisely!

In MM7, the distinction between good and evil is not just in your mind. It is not assumed that you will be good (with the allowance of evil behavior.) No longer must you suffer the need to fetch this for starving boy that and save girl x from jealous boy y while defending the simple townsfolk.

That's right. You don't have to be a goody-goody. After you get to a certain point in the game (a considerable way in), you must make the choice between Dark and Light. This choice will affect the entire course of the game and plot.

In the training grounds

What the difference between good and bad?

Your class promotions will be different if you are evil than if you are good. Mostly it's a name change, and if you are a spellcaster, you are banned from the opposing side's magic (obviously enough, good can use Light magic, evil can use Dark.) Stats wise, things tend to stay the same, although the Spy and Ninja are a bit off.

The ending of the game, I assume, is different (haven't quite gotten that far yet), but I know the plot is. While it mirrors itself fairly well, there are big distinctions in the type of quests you get. Completely hypothetical situation - no spoilers:

Ah, there's the town!

Here's an example

If you are good, you might run across a town with a nearby cave of infesting goblins, so you (being a nice guy and all that jazz), decide to save the poor folk. They offer a reward out of gratitude, and you find some magical artifact inside the cave. If you are evil, you will probably hear about the artifact, find that you can't reason with the stupid goblins, so you cut them down with extreme prejudice. The foolish townsfolk, thinking you came to save them, reward you spontaneously. Either that, or they're so cowed by your might that they hand over a ransom.

Stream coming from an (evil?) cave

You get the idea. I know I do. Evil is Good.
