Sound
Da' Tunes
There isn't really any in game music to speak of. I found that odd, as there was an option in the menu that toggled it. It was just a mish mash of little sounds that happened from room to room. At first it was pretty decent, but then as the time went by I found the sounds to lack variety. I would enter rooms that looked similar to ones I had entered in other levels, and the sounds would be the same. By the way, if you play this game you will come to hate that cat sound.

Then some other strange stuff happened; I found that room sounds didn't really fade away if you left that room. The new sound would completely take over the second you stepped into the new room. I just sat there stepping from one room to another and the sounds shifted accordingly. In fact, you can actually land in the "sweet spot" and lo and behold no sound at all!

A lot of other FPS games scare me to death if I play alone or in the dark (heck even playing Alone In the Dark). Sound schemes combined with great levels make for a very chilling experience if done correctly. I got no tingly feeling from this game whatsoever. Maybe these games evoke less from me now, but even a few weeks ago, I seriously jumped out of my chair when I heard the thunder in Wheel of Time. I guess the random mumblings and cat sounds just don't do it for me. They seem to have the look and feel of the levels down pat; just the sounds could have used some more work.

Pika Pika Bang Bang
Weapon sound effects are pretty good as far as guns go. The pistol shots have a nice crisp sound to them. Machine gun sounds have a nice oomph to them, it does more than the comic book "budda budda", if you know what I mean. The laser sounds a bit weak but the explosions and other random sounds that somehow involve a weapon are excellent. The Luger had a nice, shall we say tinkle, as the spent cartridge hit the floor. The foot and knife always make these swooshing sounds regardless of whether you actually hit anything, reminiscent of those cheesy kung-fu movies. If they had paid as much attention to the sounds within the levels, I would need a new pair of undies.
