Gameplay

Racing

We mostly did some tooling around in the outdoor environments, and a bit of racing on the tracks as well. From what we remember of Motocross 1, Rainbow added in quite a bit more realism to the racing. You'll have to be very conscious of the lines you take, and how much power you're putting into each turn or jump. It's much easier to miss a turn on the track if you get careless. Losing grip on the rear tire and fishtailing seems to be an even bigger concern in Motocross 2 (like that time I came to a complete stop on a frozen lake) than it was in Motocross 1. Thankfully, you can tweak your bike in the garage for a number of different aspects, including shock rigidity.

Gonna be a tight squeeze

Motocross Madness 2 is shaping up to be a great little racing game. Back in the heyday of Quake 2 and Starcraft, Motocross 1 was a sort of cult favorite in the office. We all raced together when we needed a break from the usual id software and Blizzard fare. The Motocross 2 beta has rekindled our latent interest and we can't wait to see the final version. Be sure to click on for more pictures - we've got shots of the desert/trailer park environment as well.
