Afraid of the Dark?
Back in junior high when I first started getting into PC games, a friend of mine showed me a nifty looking title called "Alone In the Dark." It seemed like an innovative game; at the time it never occurred to me that the horror genre would work just as well in a computer game as it would on a movie screen. It had nice 3D-ish graphics, and a still, 3rd person camera that kept you focused on the character as he moved about a haunted house. But what really mattered about "Alone in the Dark" is that it scared the crap out of you. And that's exactly what Terminal Reality's latest achievement, Nocturne, does to the player as well.

Nocturne is a fully 3D, 3rd person, horror game. The gameplay can be described as a meld of action and adventure, with some character development and puzzle solving mixed in with a lot of gunplay and monster busting. Nocturne puts players in the shoes of "The Stranger," a grizzled monster hunter who packs a pair of .45 caliber pistols under his three piece suit, trenchcoat and fedora. As the premier field operative of Spookhouse (a secret government organization dedicated to fighting hostile supernatural creatures), the Stranger is sent out on a variety of missions to combat some rather nasty monsters ranging from zombies to werewolves, to vampires, and more!

Not like the rest
What makes Nocturne different from the rest is its stunning, and ambitious graphics engine. There's arguably no other game on the market that looks as real and as impressive as Nocturne does. Package those good looks with impressive sound and well varied missions in 4 separate settings and you've got yourself a hit game that is going to make a definite mark in the gaming industry. Amidst a sea of "me too" clones and re-hashed sequels, Nocturne stands as a refreshingly unique game that all avid gamers should experience.
