TFS: Will multiplayer be handled over Bungie.net? Will you be including games
besides deathmatch, like CTF, etc?
HC: At the moment we have LAN play implemented. As to different multiplayer
options, we have cool stuff planned, but we haven't fully reached that stage in
development yet.

TFS: What were some of the inspirations behind the making/design of Oni? Other
games? Movies?
HC: The obvious inspiration is anime - 'Ghost In The Shell' is a particular team
favorite. We were not 'inspired' by other games so much as we were inspired by
the untapped potential in the action/adventure genre. We felt that there hadn't
been a third-person 3D action game that really let you get into the thick of the
action. Oni combines a fully explorable environment, and the storyline of an
adventure game with 'full contact' action - hand to hand combat and gunplay
that's fully integrated. Our inspiration was to push the genre further than it
has gone before.

TFS: Are you going to promote mod making?
HC: The game's incredible environments were designed by team members who trained as
architects before joining Bungie. They're a lot more created using CAD, which
is a commercial software package. As we won't be distributing that, it really
rules out 'mod' making.
Thanks very much to Hamilton for taking time to answer our questions, and Doug and Mark for setting up the interview. Overall Oni is shaping up to be a fantastic game, with its mix of gun and hand to hand combat featuring over 100 different characters. The fluid animation, top notch graphics, and pumping techno soundtrack will take it over the top to make it a surefire hit when it is released later this year.
