Climbing, not sliding up stairs

Andrew also moved us to another level where he showed off some other animation tricks. Notice that in just about every game out there, none of the characters ever really USE stairs? It's sort of like the stairs are really a ramp and the steps are drawn in as a texture for decoration, because characters slide up and down. In Prince of Persia 3D you'll see none of that because the Prince really does take a step on each stair explicitly and will vary his speed depending on what angle you take the stairs at.

Anti Lock Brakes

Another cool maneuver that we saw involved stopping after a run. In most action games you can more or less stop on a dime, or some pseudo momentum will cause you to slide out further than you want to. In Prince of Persia 3D, the character has to take a step or two to slow down from a run - something you'll want to think about when you're up on some high cliffs. While these seem like trifling details, they're but a small taste of the type of graphical polish you'll see in Prince of Persia 3D. Remember, it's the little things that separate the great games from the rest.

 Random Fact
Usually it's Kenn who has to sit there admiring the little details. Since he couldn't accompany us on this little jaunt, CalBear kinda took his place.
