More Gameplay
Despite the stupid AI, the game is still quite hard. You will find yourself reloading later missions countless times. Why is that? Oh that's right, this game has no save feature, quite a common theme amongst many of the games coming out nowadays. According to one of the developers, the game was supposed to have short levels, thus not necessitating the need for an in-game save feature. As time went on, level sizes started to increase. The developers then realized that a save feature would be essential, however time was short and other projects received priority. Time and release dates had once again become the bane of the developers, rearing its ugly head by cutting off essentials. We do hear that the save feature is being addressed in a future patch. As it stands, there are very few games where I appreciate this sort of play; IGI isn't one of them.

If stupid AI wasn't bad enough, there is a complete lack of variety in the opposition. Most of the enemies are either wielding an AK47 or a shotgun; the shotgun guys have a red collar or something to distinguish them. There aren't even guard dogs in IGI. Although, there is the occasional tank or gunship around to blow you to smithereens, most of your fights are with the guards of simpleton.
Poof!
One thing we weren't pleased with was the respawning of enemies. For a game that tries to be realistic, enemies should not appear out of thin air. There were times when I would clear out a barracks only to leave and be shot in the back by new soldiers that had just spawned inside. I was not very pleased at discovering this "feature". Many colorful phrases could be used here; but just as before, most aren't suitable for print. One will suffice. Lame.

Weapons
To shoot the aforementioned numskulls, there is a decently sized array of guns at your disposal. The guns in the game try to be realistic, by incorporating recoil and all that jazz. The default weaponry you are equipped with is a knife, pistol, MP5, or an M16/grenade launcher. There are other weapons you can pick up, most prominently the AK47. A majority of the other weapons are pretty darn rare, some of them only appear a handful of times throughout the entire game.

I found myself using about four of the guns in the game. The MP5, the Dragunov, AK47, and the M16, in that order. The MP5 is a sub-machinegun, and I'd rather use it than the AK because of the zoom feature. The other weapon of choice was the Dragunov, a sniper rifle. Aside from those two, I wasn't exactly compelled to use the other weapons. In fact, the only reason I used the AK is because it had the most plentiful ammo source, a bunch of dead guards.
