Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
The Horror!
Resident Evil - what does that bring to mind? Civil unrest outside of Wal-Marts, K-Marts and S-Marts all across America? The original Resident Evil was a widely popular and highly acclaimed game, attracting oodles of gamers; some even bought the PlayStation just to play Resident Evil.

To put a long story short, Resident Evil and its numerous sequels and spin-offs has been one of the most successful series in the last few years of gaming. With a fan base almost as rabid as the zombies in the game, Capcom has a serious chance for another PlayStation hit with Resident Evil 3 (RE3). The question of the hour is if the game will manage to hold its own on the PC platform which is beginning to see more and more "survival horror" games in both quantity and quality.
Two years after the initial PSX release, the first Resident Evil was finally ported over to the PC. Unfortunately, the game was old by then; been there, done that. By then, even the most consolephobic PC enthusiast had not just played the game on the PlayStation, but beat it on "hard" with only the knife.

Almost there
Resident Evil 2 was a step up in the series. It featured a lot more action and a deeper interactive environment, but the PC port had issues with the game resolution. The PSX version of the game was limited to the low resolutions of the television. PCs don't have that limitation. Sadly, the highest resolution RE2 could handle on the PC was 640x480. Also, the low-resolution textures meant that even at 640x480 the graphics were terribly pixelated.
Now we have the latest installment in the series, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Capcom has finally recognized that there is a potential in the PC market for the Resident Evil series. In fact, the gameplay of the series in general is something you would expect from a PC title, not a game designed for a console.
