Gangs and Weapons
Gameplay
There are four different gangs to choose from in Redline: The Company, Red Six, Templars, and the Lepers. Each gang will feature a different logo and color, as well as different vehicles unique to each gang. As mentioned already, there's a walking element and a driving element in Redline. You're free to jump into and out of cars as you wish. Just make sure the car you jump into isn't booby trapped! Driving cars can be done in either first person or third person (behind the car or in front of it). Control is arcade like; hitting the brakes while turning will allow you to powerslide and turn in tighter. It's usually easiest to drive using the behind the car viewpoint. Each car is decked out with different weaponry, including rockets, machine guns, lasers, and mines. Many cars can fire out to the side and attack the rear also. There should be around 20 different cars in the final game. In addition to the large selection of cars, Redline also allows players to jump in and control stationary gun/rocket turrets.

Nifty colored lighting effects
While on foot, players can use around 10 different weapons. In the demo this includes the circular bone saw, the machine gun, grenade launcher, shotgun, sniper rifle (with zoom mode), rocket launcher, and more powerful laser type weapons. While this is a nice selection of weaponry, it kinda bugged me that it's difficult to tell how much damage you're doing to the enemy (sort of the same problem Unreal has). In one skirmish I had in multiplayer I nailed a guy with 5 or 6 direct rocket hits. Yes for real, I'm not bragging. ;) The guy didn't die, which was astonishing to me, considering the huge explosion that a rocket creates. I had to finish him off with the mini gun. Well, one cool thing about the weapons was the dual purpose nature of the bone saw. Not only is it a grisly close in weapon, but it also doubles as a helicopter. Yes, just like a cartoon, the spinning blades of this weapon will serve for short flights. Think Tribes jet pack, but even cornier. Finally, the retail version of the game will include an EMP grenade. This weapon will disable cars and allow you to carjack the hapless driver!
