How to shoot stuff
Thresh:
Now to the part everyone wants to hear - weapons. There are about 20 different cars in Redline, and each car features distinctive weaponry. It would take forever to describe all of them, so we'll stick to the on foot weapons. One of the most notable parts about Redline is that you really only use one gun for all the weapons. The gun simply transforms into another shape when you "switch weapons." The transformation is pretty fast and has some jazzy animation to it, but don't expect to make instant weapon switches in the middle of a melee.
Buzz saw
The first weapon is the buzz saw. Basically it's like the chainsaw we all know and love from the Doom 2 days. There's an important difference though. If you jump and hit the buzz saw, you'll be able to fly upward or propel yourself forward at a faster rate. It reminds me of the Tribes jet pack but a lot sillier. Since using the buzz saw to fly around is much faster than walking, you'll find yourself buzz sawing to get yourself across the bigger arena maps. Careful though - the flight capability has a limited charge, but it can be regenerated. In our office deathmatches, I'd often use the buzz saw to make a quick escape from CalBear and his minigun.
It's not the main idea in this picture but you can see the saw here
Assault Rifle
The next weapon is really your standard weapon. It's a simple assault rifle. This gun will take forever to chew through car armor but proves to be a decent default weapon for man to man deathmatching. It fires at a decent rate, and leaves holes in the walls or floors of the level as you spray about. The assault rifle is fine for short to medium range combat, but any longer than that and you're going to look for something better.
Shotgun
If you pick up shotgun shells, your gun can go into shotgun mode. This weapon gives much more oomph for man to man deathmatching but its slow firing rate makes it ill suited for anti-car combat. The shotgun gives a good spread for short range firing - in the right hands, this weapon will put down enemies in a hurry. Trying to use this weapon at medium range may not be the best idea though.
