Expected Release: Summer 1999

Warp Speed, Mr. Sulu

The world lost a legend when DeForest Kelley, AKA Dr. "Bones" McCoy from the original Star Trek, died last week. The legacy he helped create will live on, and the upcoming game from Interplay, Starfleet Command just might help you relive the fond memories of the original Star Trek. SFC is best described as a real time tactical game that allows you to control a small number of starships (one to six) in an environment based on the original Star Trek universe. That's right - you Trekkies who don't understand all the fuss about ST: The Next Generation, ST: Voyager, and all the spin offs can get your kicks using the old school races and ships.

What's it like?

Starfleet Command is based on the venerable Star Trek board game called Star Fleet Battles. They chose to base the computer game off of SFB because it uses a proven combat system that is already popular amongst fans of that community. Many of the rules from the board game will be applied faithfully, but the turn based board game will be converted to a real time system for Star Fleet Command. With variable speeds, you can transform the game from more cerebral (slower speeds) to more action packed (faster speeds)
