Ballistics Report

Pros

Accessibility
With a bit of practice and coaching, your mother could play this game.

Graphics
Though the ship texturing could use some work, this is still one of the finest-looking simulations ever.

Gameplay
Deep yet simple, it is historically faithful and still fun. Silent Hunter strikes the perfect balance and its setting, with a naturally increasing difficulty level, is perfect. Crew management adds a level of depth, though it could be handled more smoothly.

Sound
In a game that is so reliant on sound effects, it is little surprise to see that they are well executed.

Interface
It is almost difficult to believe a crew of 50 was necessary, this game is so easy to run.

Realism
Optional yet rewarding, high realism settings really give the player an idea of what life was like trying to dodge a destroyer while blind, 30 meters under the water and skirting the ground in shallow waters. Terrifying in the game, we cannot imagine the horror it must have been in real life.

Cons

Minor bugs
There are minor bugs here and there, which can surprisingly dampen the experience, since the game is so immersive and time-consuming in all other respects.

Ubi.com
Multiplayer, though generally enjoyable in an unremarkable way, relies on the player using Ubi.com, a most perfidious matchmaking service.

Resolution
The 1024x768 resolution limitation isn't a big deal, but we're rather certain that many are disappointed about it, especially LCD owners.
