Follow the Yellow Brick Road…
The way to the Emerald City was a straight enough path if a bit … adventurous, and same thing goes for Silver. You're given a bit of freedom though the path is always clear enough and there's the
One True And Only Way to go :) Hack and slash, a little bit of chat, a scripted sequence, a cut-scene, a boss and then an orb. You see, to actually rid the world of Silver, you need to get 8 magical orbs. Oh I bet you experienced RPG vets can tell where this is heading =) That's right! Quests! Travel the land, slay the beasts, find where the orb is and slay the baddie protecting it! Level up and off you go to find the next orb. 'tis the life, is it not? ;-)

I'd Like to Say There's More
But there really isn't. That's what the game comes down to. The story actually starts off pretty good but then, as I've mentioned, tapers off into the "get the item to slay the boss" type of deal. You do get satisfaction from having your characters advance, get better weapons and so on, but after 5 orbs I got this feeling "Can't we get this over with already?"

Good Things
Since the maps are all static and you level usually after killing the boss on the map, there really isn't too much point in repeat combat. I was pleasantly surprised that once you clear a scene, the baddies are gone for good and you don't find yourself fighting for no reason other than to get your health down so you spend money on healing.

The game is actually a pretty good beginner's RPG, a sort of 'Final Fantasy Lite'. If not for the combat control issue, it would be perfect in that role.
Finally, the game is remarkably stable. I'm talking rock solid here. However, you'll need to get the patch.
