Controlling the robot

Piloting the Slave Zero

The game's control is a bit nonstandard (or I haven't been playing games like it for a while) for a third person game. You control your Slave-bot the same way you'd play Quake; mouse looking and keyboard moving. Doing this is probably no accident - the designers obviously want the game to feel familiar to the first person shooter fans that they're trying to attract. It's slightly awkward at first since it's not first person, but after a bit of practice, it isn't much a problem anymore, due to the amount of attention the developers put into the camera and how it moves around you. Since Slave Zero is a third person game, good camera control by the computer is absolutely vital, and it appears that the game is pretty successful in this regard. One thing to watch out for is falling off the streets. As mentioned before, this city is a lot like the city that the Fifth Element is set in; it's a long way to the ground.

Good Timing

According to Accolade, Slave Zero will be coming out sometime in June. By the time it's out, the Matrox G400s should have started shipping and owners of those cards can fully enjoy the graphical splendor that Slave Zero has to offer. If your card can't handle environmental bump mapping, then don't worry, there's still plenty of eye candy to look forward to in the game.
